Who am I?
My name is Kylie Grover and I am the author of the Dear Jane blog. I was born and raised in a small town called Senoia, Georgia where I lived within five minutes of family, friends, and all the festivities. Growing up in a place where everybody knew everybody grew within me a strong passion for hospitality and a genuine interest to know the wider community around me. I followed the Lord’s call on my life to go to Trinity Western University in British Columbia for a degree in elementary education…only to find out the gifts I have been given were more tailored to care for others through my love of writing. I hope as you come to learn a bit about me through my writing, you’ll come to learn a little bit more about yourself as well!
My vision
The heart of this blog is that the words would piece together in such a manner as to give all glory to God. The value of words is so important, and in today’s world, they can be used carelessly and without thought; however, the tongue is no dull object. It can be a weapon for love or mass destruction. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” My deep hope is to facilitate a culture where the weight of words are seen in all their beauty: that they exist to uplift us, guide us, and teach us about the cross! If for nothing more and certainly no less, my heart’s desire is that you come to know Jesus in a deep and personal way, and that the stories I write may serve as a light to your path.
How this came to be
Though I have always been passionate about writing, it wasn’t until early 2023 that I felt the Lord begin to reveal that He had bigger plans for my words than I gave them credit. As I was coming to this understanding through the sweetest affirmations, God was also preparing my heart for my soon-to-be husband (not that I knew that at the time, but how cute!). I was enrolled in a Jane Austen English course at my university and thought it was very important that he know that I was a hopeless romantic. He would begin our video calls with a phrase that quickly won me over:
“What did you learn today, Jane?”
Now that my time at university is coming to an end and I am about to enter a pivotal stage in my life approaching graduation, marriage, moving somewhere new, and all of the other changes that follow, I felt this was the right time to create a platform for my writing. Why? Well, to share what Jane is learning in a way she knows how to best reach others.
